Battle of 100cc bikes, which one is better, Hero Splendor or Bajaj Platina
The 100cc segment of commuter bikes has evolved with time, the Hero Splendor is the best seller in this segment and offers tough competition to Bajaj and TVS.

Hero MotoCorp vs Bajaj: The 100cc commuter bike is very famous among consumers since these segment bikes return maximum fuel efficiency along with providing decent comfort. Hero Splendor has been on sale for more than two decades and remains the priority for consumers in this category. Though this segment has evolved with time and advancements, the replacement for Hero Splendor remains low in sales as compared to the sales of Hero Splendor.
Let us quickly compare the Hero Splendor with the Bajaj Platina:
Price and Variants:
The Hero Splendor starts at Rs 73k for the base model and is available in four variants. The Bajaj Platina is priced much lower than Hero Splendor and starts at Rs 61k for the base model and has only two variants on offer.
Design:
The design of Hero Splendor has remained unmatched and classic since it was launched in the market. The squared-shaped halogen headlight, halogen indicators, and five-spoke alloy wheels provide decent elegance. On the other hand, the Bajaj Platina is offered with more subtle shaped halogen headlamps which have a resemblance with the Bajaj Discover. The halogen units offer decent illumination at night and there is no use of LEDs on either of the bikes.
Engine:
Both the bikes, Hero Splendor and the Bajaj Platina are equipped with an engine of less than 110cc. Hero Splendor is equipped with a 97cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that churns out 7.9 BHP and 8.05 Nm of peak torque, mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, Bajaj Platina is equipped with a 103cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 7.7 BHP and 8.34 Nm of peak torque. In terms of torque delivery, on paper, Bajaj Platina is slightly better than Hero Splendor. Bajaj Platina’s 103cc engine is mated to a four-speed gearbox.
Fuel Efficiency:
The Fuel efficiency figures of both Hero Splendor and Bajaj Platina are more than 50 km/l. Hero Splendor would slightly return more than 60 km/l if driven sedately and fuel efficiency depends on riding style as well.
Result:
Hero Splendor is one of the best sellers in the 100cc segment, while Bajaj Platina also provides tough competition to the Hero Splendor. Both has their own sets of pros and cons but Hero Splendor's service and maintenance are slightly better than Bajaj Platina's.
