Hybrid cars in India: Hybrid vehicles in India have seen a surge in consumer adoption and since there has been the entry of hybrid vehicles in the compact SUV segment, adopting Hybrid vehicles has become much more easier. Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government revoked the road tax on hybrid cars, this has resulted in a reduction in on-road prices of hybrid cars and hence promoting the adoption of hybrid vehicles at a faster pace.

Plug-in Hybrid

The Plug-in Hybrid vehicles consist of the same components as the regular hybrid vehicle, but they have an additional port for charging the vehicle. This technology of plug-in hybrid vehicles comes in high-end performance vehicles in the luxury segment to give an additional boost in outright performance and enhance fuel efficiency.

Most Affordable: Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is one of the most affordable hybrids currently available in the country. Hyryder comes equipped with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a strong hybrid system, that churns out 91 BHP and 121 Nm of peak torque, mated to an e-CVT gearbox. It has a claimed efficiency of more than 25 km/l and has a starting price of Rs 16.00 lakh (ex-showroom). 

Most Expensive: Lamborghini Revuelto

Lamborghini Revuelto was introduced in India in December 2023 and is currently the most expensive plug-in hybrid performance sedan in India. Lamborghini Revuelto is powered by a 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V-12 engine along with three electric motors and a battery. Revuelto’s V-12 engine has a massive output of 1015 BHP and 750 Nm of peak torque, mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This high-performance Lamborghini Revuelto is priced at Rs 8.89 crore (ex-showroom)
