Bharat Forge Bags Mega Contract For Indian Army - Details

Pune: Bharat Forge in an announcement on Tuesday said that it had participated in a contract negotiation process for Advanced Towed Artillery Gun System (ATAGS) with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India and has bagged a major contract.

In March 2023, the Ministry of Defence had received the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for the procurement of 155mm/52cal ATAGS along with Gun Towing Vehicles (GTVs) for the Indian Army.

After several technical evaluations processes and commercial bids opening, the contract negotiation procedure between Bharat Forge and the India's Ministry of Defence is currently underway.

The two parties are planning to conclude the negotiation process before the end of the current financial year 2024-25, the company said in a BSE filing on Tuesday.

Bharat Forge Limited is a Pune-based Indian multinational company that provides high performance, innovative safety critical components and solutions for several sectors including automotive, power, oil and gas, construction and mining, rail, marine, defence and aerospace.

These ATAGS are developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Bharat Forge is reportedly, the lowest bidder for a contract worth Rs 7,000 crore.

Though the Indian Army's initial order stood at 400 systems, it has a potential to grow eventually.

Though, Bharat Forge has officially bagged the contract Larsen & Toubro and TASL were among its primary contenders for this contract and securing such a critical project for the Indian military in such high-profile defense deals will enhance the company's reputation.
