Google has appointed Preeti Lobana as the new Country Manager and Vice President for India, taking over from Sanjay Gupta, who now serves as the President of Asia-Pacific.
Preeti Lobana is no stranger to Google. With over eight years at the company, she has held various leadership positions, including Vice President of Customer-Centric Solutions.
Lobana’s expertise in navigating complex business spheres and driving customer-focused transformations will be important in shaping Google's future strategy for India.
As Country Manager and VP, Lobana will play a key role in advancing the company’s initiatives, especially in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation.
Leadership with a customer focus
Before being appointed to her new role, Lobana had been steering gTech, Google’s global operations that focus on processes, partner relations, and ads content quality. Her work at gTech involved managing a large international team and driving innovative solutions aimed at improving the user and partner experience.
Her leadership experience isn't limited to Google. According to the release, Lobana brings more than 30 years of experience in senior leadership positions across the technology and financial sector.
Lobana has worked at several high-profile firms, including NatWest Group, American Express, Standard Chartered Bank, and ANZ Grindlays Bank. At these organisations, she focused on business strategy, operational excellence, and product management.
Academic credentials and expertise
Lobana holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

In her new role, Lobana is set to leverage Google's AI technologies, such as Gemini 2.0, to address India's unique challenges and opportunities.
Sanjay Gupta, in his new capacity as President for Asia-Pacific, expressed his confidence in Lobana’s leadership, stressing the potential for AI to accelerate digital inclusion and boost economic growth in the country.
