The IMD has also claimed that the dense fog may linger over the weekend, with visibility expected to improve in the following week.
Delhi is enveloped by dense fog on 11th January, significantly reducing visibility and impacting the daily lives of many people. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert, predicting light showers and thunderstorms in the Delhi NCR region today.
The IMD, which is the principal agency responsible for meteorological observations, predicts that the maximum temperature will be around 15°C, with a minimum hovering at around 8°C.
As per IMD, the dense fog is expected to persist, potentially disrupting road and rail traffic apart from other daily activities. As a result, residents are advised to exercise caution due to the poor visibility and to stay updated with the latest weather advisories.
The IMD has also claimed that the dense fog may linger over the weekend, with visibility expected to improve in the following week.
Meanwhile, the air quality in Delhi has deteriorated to 'severe' levels, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) exceeding 400. This poses significant health risks, particularly for individuals with respiratory conditions, as per health experts.
