Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his response to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, emphasised a key achievement of his government: the lifting of 25 crore people out of poverty. This milestone, he said, was the result of a "planned approach" and dedicated efforts, highlighting the government's focus on real development rather than empty slogans.

"For five decades, we heard slogans of poverty eradication. Today, 25 crore poor have defeated poverty and risen above it. This did not happen by chance. It happened through a planned approach, dedicated efforts, and with a deep sensitivity towards the struggles of the poor," Modi stated, highlighting that these results were the product of hard work and commitment.

The Prime Minister further stressed that those who truly understand the struggles of the common man and the hardships faced by the poor are the ones capable of driving real change. “When one devotes their life to serving the poor, such results follow,” he added. He also criticized those who engage in photo-ops in slums but show little genuine concern for the welfare of the underprivileged.

During his speech, Modi addressed the excessive media focus on trivial topics, such as jacuzzis and stylish showers in villages, which detract from the real issues at hand.

"Our priority has always been to ensure tap water reaches every home. Nearly 75% of households—around 16 crore homes—lacked tap connections. Our government has provided piped water to 12 crore households. The Honourable President acknowledged this achievement in his address," he said.

Modi also expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to reply to the Motion of Thanks for the 14th time, calling it a privilege. "I am very fortunate that the people of the country have given me the opportunity for the 14th time to reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President's Address. So, I respectfully express gratitude to the people," he stated.
