Polling for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 commenced on Wednesday, with 1,56,14,000 registered voters preparing to cast their ballots across 70 constituencies. Security remains stringent, involving 97,955 personnel and 220 companies of CAPF, ensuring smooth voting throughout the day.
Delhi Election 2025: Voting Timings and Schedule
Today, polling across all 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi will occur in a single phase. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set voting hours from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with provisions for voters in line by the closing time to cast their ballots. The ECI encourages citizens to arrive early at their designated polling stations to facilitate a seamless voting experience and avoid last-minute rushes.
Inclusive and Secure Polling Stations
To ensure inclusivity, 70 polling stations are managed exclusively by women staff, another 70 by persons with disabilities, and an additional 70 to encourage youth participation. Voters can utilize the "Delhi Election - 2025 QMS" app to monitor real-time crowd levels, highlighting the election's tech-savvy approach.

1. Verify Your Name in the Electoral Roll
Before searching for your polling station, ensure your name is listed in the electoral roll:
Visit the National Voter's Service Portal (NVSP) at nvsp.in.
Navigate to the 'Search in Electoral Roll' section.
You can search by entering your personal details or your EPIC (Elector Photo Identity Card) number.
After submitting the required information, the system will confirm your registration status.
2. Locate Your Polling Station via the ECI Portal
Once your name is confirmed in the electoral roll, find your polling station as follows:
Visit the electoral search page at electoralsearch.eci.gov.in.
Enter your EPIC number and select your state.
Complete the captcha verification and click on 'Search'.
The system will display your polling station's name and address.
Alternatively, you can use the 'Polling Station Locator' feature available on the same portal to find the exact location of your polling booth on a map.
Political Campaigns and Controversies
The ruling AAP, eyeing a third term, faces strong opposition from BJP, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi , targeting issues like Yamuna water management and corruption allegations against AAP. Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also joined the fray, criticizing AAP's infrastructure policies.
Voter Demographics and Special Measures
Delhi's electorate comprises 83,76,173 males, 72,36,560 females, and 1,267 third-gender voters. Notably, 2,39,905 first-time voters aged 18-19 and 1,09,368 elderly voters aged 85 and above contribute to the diverse voter base. Medical teams and a creche facility at polling stations cater to emergencies and parents with young children.
Calls for Voter Participation
Chief Electoral Officer R. Alice Vaz emphasized the civic duty of voting, urging all eligible voters to participate in the democratic process. The silent period preceding the election witnessed controversies, with allegations and complaints from various political parties regarding electoral conduct.
Key Contested Constituencies
Hotly contested constituencies include New Delhi, Jangpura, and Kalkaji, where AAP holds a significant majority. The New Delhi seat witnesses a three-way battle between Arvind Kejriwal (AAP), Parvesh Verma (BJP), and Sandeep Dikshit (Congress), while Kalkaji features Atishi (AAP), Alka Lamba (Congress), and Ramesh Bidhuri (BJP).
