The former Chief Minister of the state who is credited for three consecutive wins for the BJP in Maharashtra may be the CM of the ruling alliance. The BJP has, however, not yet made any formal announcements regarding the return of Devendra Fadnavis as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
Early Life
Devendra Fadnavis was born on July 22, 1970, and is the son of Gangadharrao Fadnavis, who was fondly called 'political guru' by now Minister of Road Transport And Highways Of India, Nitin Gadkari.
He gained his early education at Indira Convent, and later Saraswati Vidyalaya School, Nagpur. He later got a law degree for Government Law college, Nagpur, and post gradate degree in Business Management in Germany.
Political Career
With a strong political background, Devendra Fadnavis gained experience early on in politics, when he joined Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in 1989. In 1992, he became a corporator, and in 1997, at 27, Fadnavis became the youngest mayor of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. He has been representing Nagpur in the Legislative Assembly of Maharashtra since 1999.
He rose across the ranks and became the chief minister of Maharashtra first in 2014. In his second term, he formed a government with the help of Ajit Pawar OF NCP. However, the government fell soon after. In 2022, Fadnavis took oath as the 9th Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, when the BJP stitched an alliance with the Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena.
