Israel Slams International Criminal Court's Stance Behind Netanyahu's Arrest
The charges include allegations of targeting innocent civilians and enforcing policies leading to the starvation of the people of Gaza
The Prime Minister of Israel denies the authority and legitimacy of the International Criminal Court (ICC), behind the arrest of Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defense minister Yoav Gallant. The charges include allegations of targeting innocent civilians and enforcing policies leading to the starvation of the people of Gaza.
What Was The Statement?
The details of Israel's stance were shared in a series of Tweets on X.
"The State of Israel denies the authority of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague and the legitimacy of the arrest warrants that have been issued against the Prime Minister and the former Defense Minister."
In its follow-up Tweets, the PM of Israel said, "Israel's notice of appeal shows in detail to what degree the decision to issue the arrest warrants was baseless and without any factual or legal foundation whatsoever.
Prime Minister of Israel." A follow-up tweet added, "Should the ICC reject the appeal, this will underscore to Israel's friends in the US and around the world how biased the ICC is against the State of Israel."
Not The Only One Condemning ICC
Karine Jean Pierre had earlier expressed concerns about ICC's decision. In a press brief, Pierre said, "We fundamentally reject the court's decision to issue arrest warrants for senior Israeli officials" ANI reported. Jean-Pierre had reaffirmed, "We
fundamentally reject that the ICC has jurisdiction over the situation, and so that's something that we've been pretty clear about and we'll continue to."
White House's statement indicates the US's disapproval of ICC's action.
