Padma Awards 2025: Osama Suzuki, Pankaj Patel From Trade and Industry Among Padma Awardees
Among the awardees, 23 are women, 10 are individuals of foreign origin or holding NRI/PIO/OCI status, and 13 have been recognised posthumously.

The government of India announced the Padma Awards 2025 on Republic Day, recognising 139 individuals for their contributions across various fields. Notable among this year’s recipients are Osamu Suzuki, who has been awarded the Padma Vibhushan, and Pankaj Patel, honored with the Padma Bhushan.
Osamu Suzuki, former chairman and senior advisor of Suzuki Motor Corporation, received the Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to trade and industry. Suzuki played a key role in transforming the Indian automobile sector through Maruti Suzuki , which became a leader in affordable passenger vehicles. His efforts have also been credited with strengthening industrial collaboration between India and Japan.
Pankaj Patel, the chairperson of Cadila Healthcare, was conferred the Padma Bhushan for his contributions to medicine and pharmaceuticals. Under his leadership, Cadila Healthcare expanded its role in developing accessible healthcare solutions, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Padma Awards, one of India’s highest civilian honors, are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order, and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field.
This year’s list includes 7 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan, and 113 Padma Shri recipients.
Among the awardees, 23 are women, 10 are individuals of foreign origin or holding NRI/PIO/OCI status, and 13 have been recognised posthumously. The awards will be presented by the President of India at a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhawan, likely in March or April.
