A two-wheeler rider from Bengaluru has collected a magnanimous Rs 1.61 lakh in traffic fines and is still freely going around the streets of the city.

This has not just instigated frustration amongst locals but citizens are now also forced to question the effectiveness of traffic enforcement in the area.

This issue got flagged after an X user Shibam shared a post with the details of the rider's current traffic rule violations. The user also reported that the fines which amounted to Rs 1,05,500 up until last year have now gone up to Rs 1,61,000.

The violations include charges such as riding without a helmet. The post also shows screenshots of the traffic challan as well as the payment app showing said fines.

What Do The Authorities Say?

In a response to the post, the Bengaluru police has acknowledged the situation, saying, "Noted, we will take necessary action."

Additionally, there are several residents expressing their disbelief at the lack of action taken against the rider. Some comments among these have advocated for stricter measures, including filing a FIR and pursuing fines through the courts.
