On Wednesday in a post on X, Trump released a statement saying, "I am pleased to announce that the Great Elon Musk, working in conjunction with American Patriot Vivek Ramaswamy, will lead the Department of Government Efficiency ("DOGE")".
Trump is also depending upon Musk and Ramaswamy for making changes to the Federal Bureaucracy, while keeping an eye on efficiency. He intends to "slash excess regulations" and "cut wasteful expenditures".
But Who Is Vivek Ramaswamy?
Vivek Ramaswamy is the founder of Roivant Sciences, a pharmaceutical company that started in 2014. According to Forbes, he has made waves in the biotech business with his deals and drug development plans. He is a 39 year-old billionaire, who was born in the US to Indian immigrant parents. He is also a graduate of Harvard and Yale Law School.
What Is Ramaswamy's Net Worth And How Does He Make His Millions?
Vivek Ramaswamy was the man behind the biggest biotech IPO of 2016, Myovant Sciences, raising $218 million after listing its shares on Nasdaq in October. He also pulled off the biggest IPO in US biotech history by listing shares of Axovant, a company that is trying to develop a new Alzheimer's drug. He runs Roivant Sciences and it is a biotech company that has an innovative financial strategy of developing drugs either forgotten or abandoned by the pharma industry, according to Forbes.
In its initial days Roivant Sciences was also backed by hedge fund QVT and an Israeli drug maker. Ramaswamy himself was one of the partners at QVT before the launch of Roivant.
