PM Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana: All you Need To Know | Budget 2025
The Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana will support 1.7 crore farmers facing low crop yields and limited access to finance.

Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana: The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman , in the Union Budget 2025, has announced the launch of Prime Minister Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana which aims to improve agricultural productivity and farmer welfare. This scheme will be implemented in collaboration with state governments and will target 100 districts with low agricultural productivity, moderate crop intensity, and below-average credit parameters.
The Dhan-Dhaanya Krishi Yojana will benefit approximately 1.7 crore farmers, providing support in areas that face challenges such as low crop yield and limited access to finance. The initiative will focus on improving farming practices, increasing productivity, and facilitating better access to resources for farmers in these underperforming districts.
The Finance Minister stressed the need to address gaps in productivity and the availability of quality seeds and technology, with the goal of creating more sustainable and profitable farming conditions in these regions.
Mission for pulses
Sitharaman has also announced a six-year Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses. The initiative will specifically target the improvement of pulse crops like Tur, Urad, and Masoor, with the objective of reducing India’s reliance on pulse imports. The mission will focus on enhancing domestic production, improving the resilience of crops to climate change, and ensuring fair prices for farmers.
Enhancement of Kisan Credit Cards (KCC)
The Finance Minister has increased the loan limit under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh under the Modified Interest Subvention Scheme. This enhancement is expected to benefit 7.7 crore farmers, fishermen, and dairy farmers, providing them with greater access to short-term loans to support their agricultural activities.
What else is there for rural areas?
Additionally, a new Rural Prosperity and Resilience programme will be launched to address under-employment in rural areas. The programme will focus on skill development, investment, and technological advancement to improve the rural economy. In its first phase, the programme will cover 100 developing agricultural districts and aims to provide job opportunities to reduce migration from rural areas.
